Ft. Walton Beach, FL – The Okaloosa County Tax Collector’s Office received notification that VISA is now an acceptable form of payment for ALL transactions conducted at the Tax Office. Ben Anderson, Okaloosa County Tax Collector, says, “This is just another restriction that has been lifted which frees up our customers to conduct their business in a way that is most convenient for them.”
Previously, customers were not allowed to use VISA on payments for over the counter Vehicle or Vessel transactions, Driver License, or Hunting and Fishing Licenses. Visa has now removed the restriction that prevented Tax Collector’s Offices from accepting the VISA branded card for these specific governmental transaction types. A bank card fee of 2.5%, or a minimum $2.50, is charged when using any credit or debit card. Anderson contends, “I am excited for our customers to have the freedom of now using whichever payment method they choose on any transaction, but I want to stress that the Okaloosa County Tax Collector’s Office receives NO portion of bank card user fees.” He continues, “To avoid those fees, customers can always use the FREE ECheck payment option when paying online.”
