For a remarkable seventh consecutive year, the Okaloosa County Tax Collector, Ben
Anderson, has earned the Legacy Award for Continued Excellence in Financial Operations. The Legacy
Award was presented by the Florida Tax Collector’s Association and is one of the highest honors a Florida Tax
Collector can receive.
Consideration for the Legacy Award requires a thorough and comprehensive review of the financial functions
of the Tax Collector’s Office. The Honorable Anne Gannon of Palm Beach County, and current Association
President, states “In addition to the meticulous review of the Tax Collector’s financial records, the Office must
also demonstrate excellence through a perfect annual audit clear of any findings and an enhancement to a
crucial area of financial competency. The areas of competency include: Innovation & Automation, Customer
Focus, and Budgeting.” Gannon continues “I’m honored to announce that after the review by a four-person
judging panel comprised of government financial executives throughout Florida, the Honorable Ben Anderson
has for the seventh consecutive year earned this esteemed designation.”
“Receiving the Legacy Award is truly an honor and a testament to our dedicated Finance Team”, states
Okaloosa County Tax Collector, Ben Anderson. “Our Chief Financial Officer, Keri Holguin, along with our
Finance Administrators, Tony Forcier, Brandy Hearne and Jennifer Leach, continue to work tirelessly to not
only ensure accurate financial records, but to explore and implement new ways to automate processes and
increase efficiency; all while saving taxpayer dollars and ensuring timely and accurate disbursements. I am
extremely proud of them, they are deserving of this great accomplishment.”
The Okaloosa County Tax Collector’s office processes over 540,000 transactions equaling $260 Million
annually for the many services provided on behalf of the citizens of Florida. These services range from
property and business tax collection and enforcement; drivers license and motor vehicle services; hunting and
fishing licenses; birth certificates; concealed weapon licensing; passport processing, and so much more.
