9/10/2013 - EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Working closely with base officials, the Okaloosa County Tax Collector recently moved to a new, larger workspace in Bldg. 210 as part of their commitment to serving military personnel and their dependents.
Formerly housed in a small office with only two walk-up stations and no waiting area; the new office has three full stations with seating, a small area planned for future growth and a waiting area.
According to Ben Anderson, the county tax collector, it's all part of the tax collector doing a small part to help with the mission.
"If we can help anyone on Eglin with faster service, more convenience, anything at all to make it easier; then we are going to do it, and this new office is a testament to just that," said Anderson.
Eglin branch manager, Jolene Hanratty has been a fixture at the Eglin office for 11 years and was the catalyst for the change.
"We worked closely with Eglin personnel to anticipate the need for more space and the influx of personnel to the base particularly with the new missions."
The new office is only the first of many changes. The office has acquired equipment to house a licensing station as well and can now print Florida birth certificates upon request.
